Day 1: Breath Watch - Patanjali The Master

This first Seven Masters, One Path meditation is based on insights drawn from the spiritual master Patanjali. Patanjali taught that there is nothing more important in meditation than being aware of your own breath experience. Meditation begins and ends with this conscious act of turning your mind’s attention to the actual experience of the air flowing in and out of your nose, each new moment.

When you become aware of your breathing in your nose, chest and belly, you naturally shift into present-moment consciousness, and wake up to your own physical presence in the here and now. As soon as you tune into your breathing, you’ll find that it relaxes, and you start to feel better. Just say the spiritual focus phrase to yourself: “I am breathing freely.” State your intent clearly to yourself, and you’ll effortlessly focus on your breath experience, and ‘wake up’ in the present moment.
